What's Carousel?

Carousel is a desktop app for the Mac devoted to viewing your Instagram feeds. We made Carousel because we wanted a simple, beautiful way to browse Instagram on the desktop in a minimal footprint. We've implemented a full set set of keyboard commands to make operation flawless and four wonderful themes to personalize Carousel to your liking.

What's Instagram?

Instagram is a free app and social network for iPhone and Android that allows you to take and share photos. If you're not familiar with Instagram, check it out on the App Store or Google Play. Since Carousel requires an Instagram account to operate, you should probably explore Instagram first!

Can I post photos from my Mac?

No. Currently, Instagram only allows photo uploads from the official Instagram mobile apps.

What's the best way to get Carousel updates?

Software updates are delivered automatically as they are released (you can always click the 'Check for Updates' menu command or open the App Store purchases tab to see if you're up to date.) To get up to date info and news, follow @mobelux on Twitter.

What are the minimum system requirements to run Carousel on my Mac?

You must be running an Intel Core 2 Duo-based Mac and Mac OS X 10.6. We recommend at least 2 GB of memory and at least 100 MB of disk space (more if you plan on saving lots of photos.)

How do I install Carousel?

Simply drag and drop the downloaded Carousel app to your Applications folder and double-click to launch. If you were unable to download Carousel, try clicking or copying and pasting the link in your order email. If you lost your email or never received it, use the form at the top of this page to retrieve it.

How do I comment on a photo?

By clicking the comment bubble and then clicking the "Comment" button in the upper right corner, holding down the option key and clicking a comment bubble or by typing "C" when selected on a photo.

How do I save my photos?

There are a couple of different ways to save your photos. You can drag and drop a photo to iPhoto or any location on your Mac. You can also right-click on the image and select the "Save Photo" command as well as press Command+S or "Save Photo" from the File drop-down menu.

How do I search for people and tags?

Navigate to the search tab and type in the search bar what you'd like to find. Results will be returned starting with users that match your query followed by tags. If you'd like to search specifically for a user begin your search term with a '@' (ex. @jeffrock). If you'd like to search specifically for a tag begin your search term with a '#' (ex. #mobelux).

How do I save a search?

On user, tag and location views you will see a 'pin' button in the upper-right-hand corner of the window. Clicking that pin will add that person, tag or location to the saved section in the search tab so you can visit whenever you'd like.
